New neighbor. He is ugly and old. I met a cute guy last week who was looking at the apt and was totally hoping he would move in instead. Oh well.
Because of new neighbor, my cable got fucked up. After 1.5 years of good comcast service, they fucked up my connection installing my neighbor's. So annoyed right now, they can't come to fix it until sunday. Idiots. Maybe I will go mess with the cables in the morning and see if it is obvious.
So now I have no tv and no internets and no cute neighbor. Harumph.

man, i havent updated in forever. even though i read my friends list often, i just never really update on my life.
ohhhh well.
summer is going pretty awesome so far.
new apartment - i haves a new apartment! it is beautiful, though the location sucks a bit. but it is all mine!!! which means that i am not pissing anyone off when i take a few days to get my dishes done. and that i can leave my shoes around in my living room and no one cares except for me! it is so pretty...my kitchen is beautiful. and now i have a stand mixer, which is glorious. and my bathroom is so pretty....i think the best thing about this apartment is that i get to decorate everything the way that i want decorated. so i get to be all crazy and do what i want! got all new pretty things for the bathroom - towels to match the shower curtains, new bathmats, etc. curtains that my mom is making for me, which coordinate nicely with the walls that i painted (with the help of miss rhode and miss dooley). its just all so pretty. and now i have my bike, so that i can get to and from the T easily without driving. which is getting me some more exercise, which is always good.
beach!!! - last weekend i went to the beach with emily and bryan. we drove down to a little one in rhode island, and it was so awesome. i never knew that there were nice beaches like that up here! i mean, of course there are, but i had never been to one. only really been to the beaches down south. unfortunately, i got a horrible sunburn in random spots. i put sunscreen on! i just missed some spots! so my back got horribly burned, and parts of my side (which are particularly bad because you can see the handprints from where i thought i was getting all the sunscreen on, and streaks from where i covered and where i didnt) and then the backs of my thighs. all of which is now peeling. ughhhh. oh well. but the beach was lovely, and i want to go back out there again this summer. thinking of doing a nice long weekend sometime soon, if i can find the time and someone to come with, and driving down and hitting the beach on a saturday, staying in town and like, going to foxwoods or mohegan sun that night since its nearby, and then going to the beach again the next morning before driving home. i think it would be an awesome little mini vacation. now i just need to figure out when i am going to do this, and who would want to come with me. (let me know if you'd be interested!)
work - busy busy busy. not much to say here. its good. its fun. things are crazy right now, everyone is super busy. just finished up a case, and am on another (about halfway through, its short, only 5 weeks) and then have another case that starts in a week or two which is going to be nuts. doing a bunch of stuff with the market research committee, which is fun. a few of the new people started, and they seem cool - i get to work with 1 of them on the case that starts soon, so that should be fun. really excited for when the new analysts start in august - new blood is fun.
mens - nothing to report. some entertaining interactions, but nothing real. oh well!
might be joining a kickball league with erin that starts in august...should be fun, even though i am terrible at kickball. but meeting new people, always cool!

mmmmm
this evening, I made lamb, and tsatsiki sauce, for gyros!
mmmm it was so tasty. probably could have cooked the lamb a bit more for more flavor, but it was still tasty!!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. spicy sauce and pitas and yum yum yum.
i also bought supplies for pot roast, which i am going to make on thursday. very exciting. and fruit and yogurt for smoothies!
it was going to be a very healthy week, with going to the gym and smoothies, and then it had to go and be a snow emergency tomorrow. sad. i cant decide if i want to go to the gym in the morning or not, while it starts to snow. but i have lamb for a gyro tomorrow! wheeee!
still dont know what i am going to do for new years eve. part of me wants to stay in and order chinese, but i really want to go out and do something! stupid snow emergencies. really starting to hate snow emergencies.
now what to make for the party on saturday? hmmmm.

i love the fall.
i was walking home from dinner with the parents last night, and it was a bit cool out...a bit crisp. and you could just smell fall in the air. you know that smell where some people are burning fires in their fireplaces, and you can smell the leaves and...it was just so awesome. I walked along the bikepath and wished so badly i had my camera with me, because it was just so pretty. i need to pull it out, and find a tripod somewhere so i can shoot at night. mmmm such pretty leaves.
i love this time of year.
i think next week i am going to go to salem for the day, because it is just so fun, and it will be all halloween-y. and then i still need to go apple picking! mom brought out some cider donuts for me. mmm. reminds me a bit of montreal last november when we bought some cider.
such a delicious time of year.
and hocus pocus is on today! perfect!

At the beach with the fam. Borrowed a blackberry from work, which is awesome except that the internets are slow and halfs the pages won't load. Sad. No mit email for me.
But being in hilton head is really nice. I like relaxing a bit, while still being able to make sure everything is going fine at work (scheduling interviews with european doctors is hard from the beach. Yay for coworker being able to take care of things for me).
Reading trashy romance books (oh god so terrible) at the beach while the sexy lifeguards drive past (man those guys fit all the right stereotypes) is what I call a weekend.

best
dessert
ever
strawberries...in a bowl of chocolate.
aweeeeeeeesome. mmmm.
we had our first interview today for our case. it was pretty awesome. things go so quickly. so fast. its a bit exhilerating, even if we're only sitting in a conference room.
did a bunch of semi-cold-calling today. i cant wait until experts actually reply to us. scheduling is fun...but going back and forth is so...tedious. the number of emails back and forth with this french doc is just absurd.
but i likes work, and it is going well, and my outfit today was so awesome.

i always find trips like this surreal. i always think they just wont end up happening. that the plane will go down or something will prevent me from going.
when i actually got to sydney last year i was like "really? i made it to australia? really?"
hopefully i will have the same experience in ireland and italy. "i made it. and i will have a great time."
see y'all when i get back.

07:03 pm - Blogging from V10 in NOLA!
I'm a Web Intern for V-Day. Since last night, I've been in New Orleans, helping out wherever I was needed with SUPERLOVE and the events of V10. I've decided to blog about my behind-the-scenes experience here at V10 - hope some of you were able to make it to the celebration!
I'm sitting in the talent lounge right now, a couch away from Eve Ensler. I got here to the Superdome around 8AM. The V-Day webmistress, Amy, and I ran over and joined the line of volunteers, greeting the amazing women who were returning to New orleans for the first time since the storms. We cheered and clapped as they walked through the tunnel that we had made, and it was the most amazing experience. They were so excited to be back. They danced, they cheered, they raised their hands right back, giving us high-fives and hugs. The feeling and energy that it evoked was incredible, and brought tears to so many eyes of the volunteers.
I haven't spent too much time by the stage area myself. After running around fixing signs, I was stationed at the registration area, giving out wristbands to women of the Gulf South so that they could pamper themselves a bit today after months of carrying the weight of New Orleans on their shoulders. I met women who were exhausted. I met women who were so thrilled at the idea of a free massage or a free makeover that they hugged us. Others wrote down PO box addresses for us, because they had moved around so many times since the storm that they no longer had a permanent address. Others had dressed up for the occasion, one with a bra on over her dress, fabric vaginas on the cups. Many others wore banners across their chests, with the slogan "I Miss America" on them. Afterwards, I wandered around the Superdome, taking it all in.
I wandered over to the Activist lounge, where tons of amazing organizations were providing information to those who had gathered. I signed petitions for Planned Parenthood. I met some volunteers for Safer, Inc., a beneficiary of my school's (MIT's) production of TVM last year. I wandered down to the floor of the Superdome, and walked along the edge, looking at the memoribilia wall covered with t-shirts and posters and programs from V-Day performances around the world. I found some space and tacked up my shirts from MIT from the past 2 years. It was so awesome to see them among all the others, many posters in different languages. I then wandered out to the marketplace that was set up with local artisans. There were some musicians playing and women dancing, having a fantastic time.
Eventually, I was summoned to the GreenRoom, where the talent is hanging out. I've sat across from some amazing and talented individuals. Jane Fonda just walked in, and Kerry Washington is chilling nearby, eating pretzels. I've been watching the live feed from the stage, and its been pretty awesome. The talent room just burst into applause as We watched the panel "ORDINARY PEOPLE DOING EXTRAORDINARY THINGS" and listened to Sunni Patterson speak. Her words were so powerful.
The room is filling up now as people come together in preparation for tonight's performance of Swimming Upstream. I should log off and get to work...or at least out of the way.
I was just joined by Rosario Dawson. She looked over my blog post, and wanted me to include a message from her: "Hey whats up! I'm having an incredible time, and if this is reaching you, your experience is just as perfect as any of ours. I'm inspired and [V10] will have ramifications larger than these 2 days. Let it touch you and spread the vagina love!"

last night i went on the class of 08 trip to mohegan sun.
swimmermilo and
pvfirenice accompanied me.
it was pretty awesome. i <3 casinos.
we started out by going and finding the "wheel of fortune" because we had free $10 bet vouchers for it for coming on the peter pan bus (milo and i had $30 each, because we were the "group leaders" for the 2 buses. awesome) ...my first bet (its similar to roulette, but with a wheel, and it has 1,2,5,10,20,40 on it) on the 5 won! so I won $50! I lost the other $20 free, but Mandi won $20 with hers, so that was awesome. milo lost.
then we went and after much searching, found some $0.05 poker slots. that was fun for a bit. <3 the video poker. i kept feeling like my machine was going to hit quads, but it never did. alas. i only sunk $5 into the game, so that was okay.
then we went to the buffet, because we had free vouchers. oh man, casino buffets. actually pretty tasty. and there was dessert. mmmmmmmmmmmm dessert.
after that, we looked for some cheap slots to play while we digested, but couldnt find any nickel poker. we played some penny slots for a bit, and then wandered over to the craps tables. i looked for one where there was a lot of cheering, but they were all full...i finally found a $10 table that had space and the people didnt look too glum. So, i brought in my $50 of chips that I won earlier, and then changed in $60 in cash. totally respectable amount to lose.
i <3 craps. i was doing pretty decent for a little bit, then things dipped a bit from a few bad shooters, (around then,
divides_by_zero and reg showed up, but then they were lame and went to scout the poker tables instead of PLAYING CRAPS WHICH IS FUN!!! though i did get a text later that ms. erika was up $200 at poker, so i wonder how the night ended for her...) and then the dice came to the bus driver on my right...who hit 4 points! it was awesome!!! i made back my money and then some! after that, i dont think i had less than $200 in my reserves, and i played for a bit more. finally, i had to leave, because our bus was coming and i couldn't miss it since i was organizing the damned thing. how i would have loved to stay for a few more hours though...(and probably would have lost all the money i made. i don't know when to walk away). but, i ran myself over to the cashier, bringing $362 away from the craps table so yes, i did win $300 for the night. you don't want to know what I would have taken away if i had picked up my bets like, 1 minute earlier. but hey, he could have thrown a 10! he was a lucky shooter! and i'm pretty pleased about my night!
so yeah. good night. i <3 craps. must not allow myself to become addicted. i will probably lose my money the next n times i play craps, but man it felt good to win last night.
